Here I sit, on a very comfortable couch (of which I never sit on because I'm too busy), fresh Wisconsin cheese curds to my left, milk to my right, in a completely empty and quiet house (never happens) with a blank screen on the computer in front of me. I actually have a chance to blog something, but what? My page remains blank. Larita's (my boss) son was coming to visit this weekend, and he lives in Wisconsin. Larita wanted some cheese curds and knowing how good they are, squeaky and all, I asked to get some too. How cool is that? No shipping and Handling, same day delivery, hand delivered at that...... Yep, life is good. Speaking of life, and work, and Larita..... I have now officially (as of Wednesday) been employed by Larita's Cakes N' More of Ft. Dodge, IA for one full year now. How extremely exciting!!!! And what a year it has been. I've learned so much. I've learned things about decorating, learned about life, learned about relationships, learned about love, learned about coworkers, learned about Faith, and so much more. I'm so blessed to have such a wonderful boss, great coworkers, and a work environment that is fun, positive, and so creative. I couldn't ever ask for a better job. "Thank you God!" My family is growing up so fast. The oldest five of my siblings are now all over 18 yrs old. Three of us have full time jobs while the other two are heading to collage. My younger five siblings, while still being schooled at home, are maturing faster than I can blink. Two have their permits, and in a few weeks only one will be under the age of 10. It just shocks me at how fast we're growing up. Wow! Recently I've been listening to a sermon by Alister Beg and have been doing some pondering. He talks about impressing UPON our children, instead of simply impressing them by something we do, or who we are. And I do believe he has a point. However, what are we impressing upon them? I realized that that is one of the reasons why we need to remain moldable and pliable in our Potter's Hands. So He can fashion us with the imprint he wants us to have in other people's lives. Not just our future children, or grandchildren, but to those around us; siblings, coworkers, church members.... I need to not be focused on myself so much, but to focus on serving others. For that is the only way we can serve Christ, through serving others. Think about it. ....... Now do it. I'll leave you all with a few pictures of a few semi-recent projects I've done. I just have so much fun it's incredible! Yes, Someone ordered decorated gingerbread men sugar cookies in August. Wow! They were fun though.
This was a fun one. The lady wanted a fairy woodland type theme. We had nothing, this is what I came up with after a day of looking for ideas on the internet and wracking my brain.
I was proud of my flying dirt and dust clouds in this one. lol Such little things make me so happy.
Thinking patriotic? We've got that too.
The infamous Garfield. He apparently ate Sara's cake. LOL He was fun. (Sara is one of my favorite coworkers.)
And of course we've got the Olympics . . . those were a tad more tricky than you might expect.
Sometimes it's all about the color. We sell our frosting, and we're always doing lots of crazy colors for people.
First birthday's are very popular. Isn't this Teddy adorable?
Don't forget the little kid's crash cake.
I LOVE our air brush machine!!!! So much fun! I did this cake using three colors.
And last but not least, here's the chocolate frosted chocolate cake I did for my sister's friend.
I hope you enjoyed my pictures. I have SO many that it's hard to pick just a few. Have a great day y'all, and remember, are you impressing people, or impressing UPON them? And if so, what? ~Stephanie |
